Baptisms of June & July 2006

Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
    Acts 2:38

Baptism comes from the greek word 'baptismos' which means to cover wholly. In order to be covered wholly you have to be submerged. In Acts 4:12 "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."  So baptism must be in the name of Jesus.  If baptism is done in any other way it is incorrect.  We must repent of our sins, be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and we will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

On the last day of this years' Revival Meetings, June 25, I baptised 13 believers in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Last Sunday July 9th, 6 more christians were baptised.  Today, July 16th, Bro. Jeremy and Sis. Amanda Carver were baptized in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We thank the Lord for drawing these new believers to Himself and for opening their eyes to see this evening light.  May the Lord richly bless and prosper their lives and may they always live for Him.

"But John only baptized unto repentance," not for remission of sins, because the Sacrifice had not been killed, baptized unto... And when they heard this, they were rebaptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost came upon them. So I believe that the pattern has been laid down. Every person in the Bible was baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ. Never one time was anybody ever baptized in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Ghost. See? Never was anybody ever sprinkled; they were all immersed.

    5th Annual Revival Meetings Report

    Christian Greetings,

God Bless you all, we had a wonderful time this year in our 2006 June meetings.  This was our 5th Annual Revival Meetings and it truly was a blessed year.  There were many, many things that God did this year that I’m sure only eternity will be able to tell.

On Wednesday night, Bro. David Siler from Missouri, preached on “Why we need a Drunk Church?” it was a very appropriate message for our church at this time. He also preached Sunday morning and Sunday evening. Sunday evening’s message really ministered to the congregation and the subject was “Battling Dimensions”.  HIS Presence came down in our midst in a mighty way after this sermon.

Bro. Homer Longoria from Alabama, preached Thursday and Friday night, and we certainly enjoyed the messages that he preached. On Friday evening, Bro. Homer ministered on “Don’t bring anything over into the new message.”  It was a very outstanding thought that was laid out before the people. By the time the preaching came to an end Bro. Homer tried to end the service and he handed the mic back to me, but I felt led to give it back to him and the Holy Ghost just blessed him and he and the rest of the congregation felt the moving of the Holy Spirit in our midst. We were truly blessed.

By the time we came to Sunday night’s service the first message we heard came to pass. (“Why we need a drunk church”) God kept His Word, and the congregation was really blessed Sunday night after the preaching of the Word.  Many of our youth just simply drank and drank until they got drunk. Many of those young people were baptized Sunday morning in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Following the Sunday morning service we baptized 13 individuals, 9 of the 13 were young people.  I had the honor of baptizing:

    1)        Israel Gibson

    2)        Luke Gibson Jr.

    3)       Malachi Gibson

    4)    Isaac Whitehead

    5)    Rebecca Whitehead

    6)    Clinton Velie

    7)    Charity Velie

    8)    Elisha Gibson

    9)    Nathanael Velie

    10)  Manuel Thatcher

    11)  Elsa Smith

    12)  Sonya Clyde

    13)  Donald Burrows

This year to me our meetings were just outstanding, the Lord seem to have been mindful of just exactly what we needed and He granted to us the desires of our hearts. These services are available on Cassette tape and also on CD.  Contact the church at http://www.lukegibsonsr.com/Contactus.html  to order any of these outstanding messages.  You can see the baptism photos and some of the other meeting photos in our “S.C. Revival Meetings 2006” album.

    Yours in His Service,

    Pastor Luke Gibson

    Urgent Prayer Request

Update July 11/06:  Tonight I visited Bro. Peter and he looks better.  The doctors decided to keep him sedated so that his body recovers.  Tonight and tomorrow morning they will be removing the  baloon at his heart so that he can start breathing on his own.  Complete removal from sedation will follow later.  Continue to remember him in your prayers.

Update July 9/06:  Bro. Peter remains sedated, tomorow (Monday) the doctors will try to get him out of the sedation and we pray that his system continues to recover fully.  Please continue to remember him in your prayers.

Update July 7/06: All through the night Bro. Peter did not have to be shocked at any time and his heart rate and blood pressure remained normal throughout the night.  This morning the report is that he is progressively getting better.  Praise the Lord for His goodness and mercy.

     Bro. Peter Howansky

Please pray for our Deacon and a faithful servant of the Lord, Bro. Peter Howansky.  He had heart surgery today and his condition is critical.  We lost him briefly this afternoon but he came back and he really needs your prayers right now.  We know there is nothing too hard for our Lord to do for our precious brother and we ask that you remember him in prayer for his complete healing.  The doctors said his heart is in very bad condition and they are surprised that he made it through the operation.  As of when I left the hospital tonight around 11:20 p.m, he had been holding his own for an hour without requiring the shock treatments he had been getting constantly since this evening.

He is a precious servant of the Lord and we ask that everyone join together in holding this request before our Lord.

    Thank you for your prayers,

    Pastor Luke Gibson

Isaiah 53:5: "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

Jeremiah 30:17: "For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord..."

Matthew 21:22: "Whatever you ask for in Prayer with faith you will receive. "

Praise Report - Sis. Annette Carver

On Sunday night, July 2, I received a call from Bro. Leonard Carver (Sis. Annette Carver’s husband).  He informed me that Sis. Annette was released from hospital.  The doctor told her that he doesn’t understand it because a normal person that had what she had would never have made it.  The doctor said that with all the poisons that was in her body she should never have made it and he didn’t think she would have either.

Thanks be to our wonderful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  There is no situation that is too hard for the Lord, He supplies all our needs and heals our diseases.  We give all the Glory and Praise to Him and we rejoice with Sis. Annette for this healing.

God Bless you all for praying.

    Psalm 103:1-4
A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
    Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies
