Another Soldier has ended his duty...

José Ángel Moreno Hernández (Chepito)

“To live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21

On August 26 at 4:00 a.m., a fellow Minister of the Gospel in Flores Magón, Durango, Mexico went home to his eternal reward, after a life lived for his Savior.  He died suddenly but peacefully in his sleep.  Please remember Bro. José's wife, children and congregation in your prayers.  We pray that our Lord Jesus will give them strength and comfort during their time of sorrow.

"Jesus, Thou Prince of Life,
Thy chosen cannot die:
Like Thee, they conquer in the strife
To reign with Thee on high."

“If we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.”
1 Thessalonians 4:14

A Soldier has gone home...

PETER HOWANSKY
September 7, 1927 - August 26, 2006

"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."

On August 26, around 9:30 a.m a soldier in the Army of the Lord was called from the front lines to his home in Glory.  Bro. Peter Howansky was a deacon at the Tabernacle of the Lord where he served faithfully for many years.  His desire was to see the Power like they had at Pentecost come back into the church before he went home. Before he went into surgery on July 6 he told me, "Bro. Luke, I have lived to see with my own eyes what I have always desired to see and that is the Holy Ghost return back into the church.”  The Lord also showed our brother 45 years ago, that he would one day go to Mexico and in April of this year he fulfilled this dream and went with us to the Easter meetings where he gave his testimony of what the Lord had done for him.  He was a brave and valiant soldier who always had a testimony to share of what the Lord was doing in his life and he loved to talk about the things of God.

"If a man die, shall he live again?" Job 14: 14. For the answer to this question we turn to John 11: 25; "Jesus said unto her (Martha) I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." Our brother was a believer in this promise and while he is absent from us, he is present with the Lord and this is the hope and the portion of every believer when we die in Him. We thank the Lord for Bro. Peter's life and his service to the Kingdom and we are assured that one day we will see our brother again.

Please remember his wife, Sis. Barbara, his children and the many friends and family during their time of grief.  We pray that the Lord Jesus will comfort their sorrowing hearts.

Funeral services will be held at The Tabernacle of the Lord in Anderson, South Carolina on Tuesday August 29 at 11:00 a.m.  The service will be broadcast live on Paltalk.com in our room under: Religion & Theology - Christianity - LukeGibson.

“I have fought a good fight

I have kept the faith

I’ve been through some hard times

But I’ve made it by His grace

The battle now is over

And I have run the race

I have fought the good fight

And I have kept the faith”

Nogales, Mexico Meetings Report

July 20- July 23 - Nogales, Mexico

Christian Greetings,

I would just like to give you an update on our trip to Nogales, Sonora, Mexico.  This years' meetings were very outstanding.  There were several things that the Lord accomplished which confirmed His Word of Mark 16 and Hebrews 13:8 among the people.  On my trip towards Mexico, the Lord dealt with me to preach from Jude the 3rd verse on "Contending for the Faith."  The first night I preached on "The Common Salvation" and the following services I ministered on "Contending for the Faith."  The Word became such a reality among the people of going back to the faith of the Pentecostal fathers that God so inspired their hearts they were being healed while they were sitting in their seats.  One particular testimony of note occured on Saturday night, the people were worshiping the Lord after the preaching of the Gospel and the Holy Spirit moved in among the people. One brother got so drunk on the Spirit that he was going around the building just worshiping the Lord and the next thing I knew he was running towards the platform with his 6 year old son in his arms.  They both were screaming Glory in Spanish because God had instantly healed his son who was a mute.  That was just one of the outstanding miracles that God performed for His people.  On Sunday we had a prayer line following the preaching and there were many, many wonderful things that God did during this prayer line. The pastor informed me that this was the first time in 20 years that the Pentecostal message and power was preached among the people and they had the opportunity to experience it.  My heart has been burdened for the people of Mexico since the first time I preached among them and I continue to pray that God will send His blessings upon the humble people of Mexico.  I also ask that you will remember them in your prayers.

God Bless You,

Pastor Luke Gibson

Prayer request - Bro. Peter Howansky

****UPDATE: Wed. August 23 - Please continue to pray for Bro. Peter, today the doctors said his prognosis is not very good.

"When I wander thru the valley dim

Toward the setting of the sun,

Lead me safely to a land of rest

If I a crown of life have won;

I have put my faith in Thee, dear Lord,

That I may reach the golden strand,

There 's no other friend on whom I can depend,

Blessed Jesus, hold my hand."

Please continue to pray for Bro. Peter Howansky.  Since his heart surgery over a month ago he has been hospitalized and he needs our prayers.  He came very close to the point of dying last week and his organs are failing.  We still believe in a miracle working God and in His promises - "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."  May our Lord Jesus help our brother and may His will be done in his life.

God Bless you,

Pastor Luke Gibson

-------------O------------

"I want you to lay your hands over on each other, if you will, for the healing of your body. I want you to repeat this prayer. You pray it and as I repeat it. Now, I'll just repeat it, you pray.
Almighty God, the Author of Life, Giver of every good gift, look down upon me now in mercy. See my sickness and my conditions, and look into my heart, Lord. And if there be any unbelief, O God, take it from me now. Say, "I believe Thee. Help Thou my unbelief." I now am coming with a sincere heart to accept my healing. Now, may my faith be sufficient to receive it. In Jesus Christ's Name I ask it.
Now, just remain with your heads bowed. Everybody praying, no matter what's wrong with you now. Now, just don't raise your head. Keep your eyes closed. Just imagine what Jesus is doing right now, the Holy Spirit wooing over you, His mercies and power coming into your body right now making you well. The Angels of God are hovering around you."

Spoken Word Tabernacle destroyed by fire

On Monday August 7, 2006 a tragedy occurred.  The Spoken Word Tabernacle in Beckley, West Virginia was destroyed completely by a fire which started suspiciously.  The pastor, Bro. Roy Shrewsbury and congregation requires your prayers as they try to deal with this disaster.  Bro. Roy was about to start a 3 week revival on Friday, August 11- August 27 and he still plans to continue on with these meetings.  The devil cannot stop the move of God and we pray that their revival meetings are a blessing to everyone that attends.  Below are links to articles about the fire:
